Median
Median in an numerical data set is the point at
which there is an equal number of data points
on either side of the median value, when the data has been ordered. In a data set that contains outliers
median is more representative of the
center of the data set than the mean is. Median is denoted
by capital Latin letter "M" or Latin letter "x̃"
with
a tilde over
it. The steps for finding median of a data set
- Order the numbers from smallest to largest.
- If the data set contains an odd number of elements, median is the number exactly in the middle.
- If the data set contains an even number of elements, median is the average of the two elements in the middle.

mean, median is not affected by outliers,
i.e. it is not affected by the values of the data
points,
only
their location within the data set. If a
